National Committee on e-Government renamed National Committee on Digital Transformation as Prime Minister takes up the reins.

On September 24, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 1619/QD-TTg and renamed the National Committee on e-Government the National Committee on Digital Transformation.

The Prime Minister will also be the Chairman of the Committee, with Vice Chairmen to include a Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Information and Communications. Committee members will include the Minister of Public Security, the Minister of Science and Technology, the Minister of Finance, and the Minister of Planning and Investment, among others.

Its main task is to research and propose measures to the government and the Prime Minister on directing and coordinating the implementation of guidelines, strategies, mechanisms, and policies to create a legal environment to promote the process of national digital transformation as well as to offer assistance to the government and the Prime Minister when needed. The Committee will also focus on administrative reform and the development of e-government, digital government, the digital economy, digital society, and smart cities, in order to facilitate the implementation of Industry 4.0 in Vietnam.

A further task is helping the government direct ministries, branches, and localities on implementing digital transformation goals, tasks, and solutions, and building and developing e-government and digital government, etc.

The Ministry of Information and Communications has the task of providing support to and ensuring the necessary conditions for the operations of the Committee and the Working Group.
