Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked relevant ministries, sectors, and localities to identify and take measures to prevent illegal hunting of swiftlets, manage swiftlet farming, and promote the export of birds’ nests.
They were instructed to guide swiftlet-breeding farmers to register codes for their breeding facilities for better management and traceability, and to apply information technology and digital transformation in swiftlet farming to ensure food safety and hygiene standards to meet export requirements.
He asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to proactively study export markets and increase trade promotion activities to introduce Vietnamese birds’ nests and help Vietnamese enterprises boost their exports of birds’ nests.
There are 22,087 swiftlet houses around the country, with an annual output of 120 tons worth some $450 million.
