Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh left Hanoi on October 23 morning for Russia to attend the expanded summit of BRICS in Kazan city from October 23-24, according to a report from the Government News.

Originally the BRICS consists of five countries, namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

The PM’s participation at the event will opens new prospects for cooperation between Vietnam and BRICS, the Government News remarked

PM Chinh’s tour is an important move to concretize Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization of external relations, being a trusted friend and partner, an active and responsible member of the international organization.

His participation in the summit reflects Vietnam’s role and responsible contributions to multilateral mechanisms, contributing to resolving global challenges, promoting sustainable and inclusive development and voices of developing countries.

It also aims to further boost and deepen cooperation with Russia and other countries.

Under the motto Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security, Russia will act precisely in this manner and focus on positive and constructive cooperation with all countries concerned, during its 2024 BRICS Chairmanship.

In general, Russia will continue to promote all aspects of the BRICS partnership in three key areas: politics and security, economy and finance, and cultural and humanitarian contacts, Russian President Putin said, as quoted by the Government News.

"Our priorities include promoting cooperation in science, high technology, healthcare, environmental protection, culture, sports, youth exchanges, and civil society," the Russian President said.
