Trade promotion activities for the Red River Delta region need a stronger boost to support local enterprises to tap opportunities from both domestic and foreign markets, according to participants at a recent conference held in Hanoi.
Trade promotion task helps to connect localities in the region to increase consumption of goods.
In order to promote the region’s position and tap its potential, localities in the region need to professionalize and further cooperate in terms of trade promotions, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said.
Measures are needed to boost science and technology and regional connectivity in production, trade promotion and import-export activities to improve product value, he said.
Data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade shows that the Red River Delta’s economic growth last year reached 6.28%, ranking it 3rd out of 6 economic regions.
Its FDI attraction in 2023 reached nearly VND440.1 billion ($17.4 billion), ranking first in the country, with five out of the region's 11 localities consistently among the top 10 localities nationalwide in terms off registered FDI capital.
Its import-export turnover reached more than $260 billion, the highest among the nation's six economic regions, and accounting for 38% of the country’s total import-export turnover.
With three growth poles of Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh, the Red River Delta also takes the lead in industrialization, modernization, science and technology research, application, and innovation.
The Red River Delta region includes 11 provinces and cities, including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam and Ninh Binh.
