Northern Quang Ninh province has estimated it will earn tourism revenue of over VND33.4 trillion ($1.39 billion) in 2023, up 48 per cent year-on-year, according to local authorities.
The figure exceeds the annual target of VND32.4 trillion ($1.35 billion).
The province expects to welcome 15.5 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 33.6 per cent.
Growth is attributed to the province’s efforts to adopt measures to promote domestic tourism as well as recover the international market.
It organized over 130 events and programs during the year, on culture, sports, trade, and tourism, and developed new tourism products to attract tourists.
Many events drew a large number of both domestic and foreign visitors, such as Carnaval Ha Long Summer 2023, a conference on Quang Ninh’s tourism development, the Quang Ninh Food Festival 2023, and the Hokkaido Festival, held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan.
