Quang Tri developing two new urban areas

Lia urban area expected to become a border exchange center of Vietnam and Laos.

Authorities in central Quang Tri province have approved planning for the development of the Lia urban area, which is envisioned to become a border exchange center between Vietnam and Laos in the south of Huong Hoa district as well as a growth driver of communes in the area.

Covering a total area of 2,836 ha, including a construction area of over 700 ha, the Lia urban area will prioritize the development of services, industry, renewable energies, and high-tech agriculture.

A transport network will be developed to connect with National Highway No. 9 and the Ho Chi Minh Highway.

Local authorities also announced planning for the La Vang urban area in Hai Lang district, which will have modern and synchronous technical and social infrastructure and develop a specialized center in trade and tourism services, helping to promote socio-economic development in the district.

The urban area will connect Quang Tri with National Highway No. 1 and the North-South Expressway.
