Experts told the recent “Restoring and developing tourism human resources in the new normal” seminar that staffing has become a pressing issue now the tourism industry is being restored. The biggest change in the labor market in the second quarter is predicted to be mass recruitment in the tourism industry. Recruitment demand will double compared to the first quarter and also double year-on-year.

On March 24 in Quang Yen town, northern Quang Ninh province, the Viglacera Corporation kicked off construction of housing for workers and experts at the Dong Mai Industrial Park. The project has a total area of 9.1 ha and includes five blocks with 1,000 apartments for workers and 72 houses for professionals working in Dong Mai.

Many businesses are willing to pay high salaries, of up to VND70 million ($3,080) per month plus attractive packages, for managerial positions and above, but still find it difficult to recruit due to a scarcity of candidates and quality staff tending to rarely change jobs.

Hanoi aims to create jobs for 160,000 workers in 2022. In the first quarter of the year, it will recruit 80,000-100,000 workers, which is to increase 10-15 per cent in the second quarter. Commercial services, manufacturing, construction, banking, and tourism have strong recruitment demand.

At a breaking ground ceremony for a social housing project invested in by the Becamex Investment and Industrial Development Corporation (Becamex IDC) in southern Binh Duong province on March 19, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the government has issued the National Housing Development Strategy for the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2045, which has new requirements to meet the budgets of middle-income and low-income households and on diversifying financial resources for social housing development.

Vietnam Airlines’ first flight carrying foreign visitors arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on March 16, one day after the reopening of the country. Among the more than 100 passengers, 20 were foreigners.
