Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has signed a decision establishing a state appraisal council to review the investment policy for the Gia Binh International Airport project in Bac Ninh province in northern Vietnam.
The Minister of Finance will serve as chairman of the council, with the Ministry of Finance acting as its standing body.
The council will operate under regulations governing the appraisal of national key projects and the monitoring of investment activities. Its appraisal report must clearly state whether the project dossier meets the conditions for the Government to submit it to the National Assembly for approval.
Under the adjusted planning, the dual-use Gia Binh International Airport will cover nearly 1,960 hectares.
It is designed to handle 30 million passengers and 1.6 million tons of cargo annually in the 2021–2030 period, with capacity projected to rise to 50 million passengers and 2.5 million tons of cargo by 2050.
