Vietnam’s packaging industry needs to develop itself into an environmentally-friendly industry to satisfy the requirements of a sustainable economy, an official has said.
Chairman of the Vietnam Packaging Association Nguyen Ngoc Sang said it is important that the industry increases its competitiveness through effective management and digital transformation.
“Generally speaking, Vietnam’s packaging industry sees relatively high and stable growth, of an average 13.4 per cent each year in the 2015-2020 period,” Mr. Sang said.
“However, there are challenges that the packaging industry must overcome. The industry will keep growing along the country’s economic development, so is attractive to foreign investors.”
Figures from the Vietnam Packaging Association show that there are about 14,000 businesses operating in the industry, including 4,500 firms in paper packaging and 9,200 firms in plastic packaging.
