Germany willing to help Vietnam fulfill COP26 commitments
On September 28 at Government Headquarters, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh received State Secretary of the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development Jochen Flasbarth, who is on a visit to Vietnam. Mr. Flasbarth affirmed that Germany wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam and is willing to share its experience in clean energy transition to help it fulfil its COP26 commitments.
Looking back over one year of the ‘German Desk’
On August 30, 2022, in Ho Chi Minh City, HDBank and DEG co-organized a “German Desk Networking Event”, looking back on the one-year journey of German Desk cooperation. Through the German Desk, the German Government and DEG have provided support packages and financial solutions to businesses for sustainable economic development. Germany is a strict market for Vietnam’s exports in terms of legal regulations and consumer requirements, and is also highly competitive. To successfully do business, Vietnamese enterprises must fully exploit the advantages from the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EUVFTA).
Vietnam receives vaccines from Germany
Vietnam received 852,480 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine supported by the German Government on September 16, bringing the total number of doses received through the COVAX mechanism to 12,578,110.
Germany sending vaccines to Vietnam
The German Government will donate 2.5 million doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine to Vietnam to help it fight Covid-19. The country has been the largest donor to Vietnam among EU members.
Germany to provide ODA loans
In a government-level negotiation meeting on development cooperation between Vietnam and Germany in 2021, which was held online on July 23, Germany committed to provide €50 million ($58.92 million) in ODA loans this year and €63.56 million ($74.89 million) in non-refundable ODA loans for 14 technical assistance and investment projects.
