Inventory of apartments and detached houses on the rise
There are around 6,323 unsold apartments and 12,327 unsold detached houses nationwide.
Textile and garment exports face risk
Though export turnover of Vietnamese textiles and garments increased 16.4 per cent in the first eight months of this year, the Viet Dragon Securities Company has forecast that reduced demand and a prolonged inventory cycle will overshadow the prospects for new orders in 2023 or even have an effect from the fourth quarter of this year.
Construction steel prices continue to tumble
The domestic construction steel price has continued to head downwards. After the latest and 13th decline, the price now stands at VND14,640 ($0.62) - VND16,240 ($0.69) per kilo (depending on the brand and type). The reason for the continual decline is the concurrent sharp decline in input material prices and abundant supply and high inventories.
Ports at risk of serious backlog
The proportion of shipping line employees, agents, and seamen who are vaccinated against Covid-19 and have travel passes is quite low, at only around 10 per cent, which is disrupting seaport operations and increasing the risk of a backlog of goods.
