The Business Registration Administration at the Ministry of Planning and Investment has said that business registrations continue to reach new milestones. In August, there were 11,918 newly-registered enterprises with total capital of VND130.198 trillion ($5.5 billion), an increase of 106.9 per cent in number and 91.6 per cent in capital year-on-year.

According to the General Statistics Office, there were more than 13,000 newly-established enterprises in July, down 0.7 per cent compared to June but up 50.7 per cent year-on-year. At the same time, 2,300 businesses returned to operations, up 3.2 per cent over June.

The 15,000 enterprises established in April set a new record. In the first four months there were 49,600 enterprises registered, with total capital of VND635.3 trillion ($27.65 billion) and 348,200 employees, up 12.3 per cent, 1.2 per cent, and 2.3 per cent, respectively, over the same period last year.

Vietnam saw 14,300 newly-established enterprises in March, an increase of 96.2 per cent compared to February. Registered capital rose 127.3 per cent. There were nearly 34,600 newly-established enterprises in the first quarter, with total registered capital of more than VND471 trillion ($20.74 billion), up 18.1 per cent and 5.2 per cent, respectively.

According to the General Statistics Office, only some 7,300 new businesses were established in February, with registered capital totaling VND85 trillion ($3.73 billion), down 44 per cent in number and 55.7 per cent in capital. Nearly 20,300 new enterprises were registered in the opening two months of the year, with total registered capital of VND278 trillion ($12.9 billion).
