Passenger transport rose impressively in the first eight months of this year, with the aviation and railway sectors together growing by over 130 per cent. In August alone, the number of air passengers stood at 11.5 million, a 473 per cent increase year-on-year.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked the Ministry of Transport to direct agencies and units to urgently prepare to begin construction of Terminal 3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City in the third quarter of this year. Terminal 3 has a capacity of 20 million passengers a year and total investment of nearly VND11 trillion ($470.43 million), increasing capacity to 50 million passengers a year.
