Space remains to boost seafood exports to China amid declines
Vietnam earned just $1 billion from seafood exports to its northern neighbor in the first nine months of 2023, down 18 per cent year-on-year.
Seafood enterprises in Soc Trang set to reopen
Soc Trang city, capital of the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang, has changed from an “orange zone” (high-risk zone) to a “yellow zone” (medium-risk zone) to facilitate production and business activities, with many seafood enterprises now able to return to operations.
Seafood production in south tumbling
According to a survey conducted by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) at the end of August, only 30-40 per cent of seafood enterprises in southern cities and provinces are currently operating. It is estimated that seafood production capacity in the south has fallen by 60-70 per cent compared to the same period last year.
