North-central Thanh Hoa province recorded total tourism revenue of VND1.21 trillion ($49 million) in February, up 46 per cent year-on-year, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
It welcomed 1.29 million tourists during the period, a year-on-year increase of 34.4 per cent, including 11,300 foreign visitors.
During the seven-day Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, 635,000 tourists visited the province, up 48.7 per cent compared to Tet last year.
The February figure brings the total number of tourists to the province in the opening two months to nearly 1.6 million, including 16,000 foreign visitors.
Thanh Hoa targets welcoming 13.8 million tourists this year and earning total tourism turnover of more than VND32.38 trillion ($1.32 billion).
The province plans to organize 145 cultural, sports and tourism activities and events during 2024 to attract tourists.
