North-central Thanh Hoa province welcomed more than 8.3 million tourism in the first half of 2023, a 13 per cent increase against the same period last year, figures from the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism show.

Total revenue from tourism is estimated at over VND15 trillion ($632 million), a year-on-year rise of 16.7 per cent.

To attract more tourists, Thanh Hoa has focused on tourism promotion programs and developing new tourism offerings. It has also cooperated with other localities to diversify tours.

The province welcomed more than 11 million visitors last year.

It has set a target of catering to 12 million tourists this year, including over 615,000 international visitors.
