Ho Chi Minh City welcomed over 1.9 million international tourists in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 306 per cent, figures from the municipal Department of Tourism reveal.

The majority were from South Korea, India, ASEAN member countries, the US, and Australia.

Domestic visitors to the southern city reached more than 16.4 million, up 48 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The city topped the country in terms of tourism revenue during the period, with an estimated VND80.83 trillion ($3.4 billion), for year-on-year growth of 62.7 per cent.

In order to attract more visitors, Ho Chi Minh City has developed high-added value offerings such as waterway tourism, golf tourism, and Meeting, Incentive, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism.
