A conference on promoting trade and expanding import and export markets for Vietnam’s southern region was co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee on December 13, according to a report from the Vietnam News Agency.

The conference was attended by more than 300 representatives from the six centrally-run localities in the region, including Ho Chi Minh City, and agencies, businesses, and international partners.

Measures to step up trade promotions, links in production, and market expansion as well as support for businesses to effectively take advantage of free trade agreements and diversify markets and supply chains were discussed at the conference, with information on import and export market opportunities shared by experts and representatives from major international partners in the US, Brazil, the EU, and China.

Discussions also dealt with trends to develop green, environmentally-friendly products and opportunities to export consumer goods, garments, and footwear to the South American market.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang confirmed that the ministry will continue to accompany and work closely with authorities in southern localities and support local businesses in developing import and export markets, to promote the region’s strong products and goods in domestic and foreign markets.
