Vietnam’s transport sector maintained strong growth momentum in April 2026, with both passenger and cargo transport recording solid increases, according to the National Statistics Office.
Passenger transport reached 509.5 million trips in April, up 5.6% from the previous month and 17.3% year-on-year. Passenger traffic totaled 28.4 billion passenger-km, an increase of 4.8%, compared to March.
In the first four months of the year, passenger volume rose 15% year-on-year to 2.1 billion trips, while passenger traffic increased 12.7% to 113.2 billion passenger-km.
Cargo transport also expanded steadily. Freight volume in April reached 274.2 million tons, up 1.4% month-on-month, while cargo traffic rose 2.3% to 53.3 billion ton-km.
In the January-April period, freight volume climbed 14.2% year-on-year to 1.08 billion tons, with cargo traffic rising 10.2% to 208.2 billion ton-km.
