At its extraordinary meeting in Hanoi on December 30, the 13th Party Central Committee voted to relieve Mr. Pham Binh Minh from the posts of Politburo member and member of the 13th Party Central Committee, and Mr. Vu Duc Dam from the post of member of the 13th Party Central Committee, according to a report from the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

The two will soon step down from their current post as Deputy Prime Minister, as a result.

The State-run news agency further reported that the committee also offered opinions on two candidates for the Politburo to nominate to the 15th National Assembly for approving the post of  Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 tenure at its extraordinary session scheduled to open on January 5.
