US authorities have reduced anti-dumping duties on frozen tra fish fillets from Vietnam following the latest preliminary results of the 19th anti-dumping duty review (POR19) on such products, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
The results of the review on Vietnamese frozen tra fish fillets exported to the US in the period from August 1, 2021, to July 31, 2022, was recently published by the US Federal Register.
Preliminary anti-dumping taxes on products from two mandatory respondents - the Dong Thap province-based Vinh Hoan Corporation and Can Tho city-based Can Tho Import-Export Seafood Joint Stock Company (Caseamex) - will be cut to $0 and $0.14 per kilo, respectively.
A rate of $0.14 per kilo will also be applied on products from other companies, including the Cafatex Corporation, the International Development and Investment Corporation, the Loc Kim Chi Seafood Joint Stock Company, and the Hung Vuong Corporation.
The new rate is down from the final results of the previous review, according to VASEP. The anti-dumping tax levied on most Vietnamese enterprises last September was $2.39 per kilo. Other enterprises were subject to a rate of between $0 and $3.87 per kilo.
According to VASEP, the US was the largest market for Vietnamese tra fish exports in 2015 and 2016.
In the first six months of this year, the price of Vietnamese tra fish exported to the US stood at $2.97-3.45 per kilo.

The new tax rate decreased from the final results of the previous review, according to VASEP. Previously, the anti-dumping tax levied on most of Vietnamese enterprises last September were $2.39 per kg. Some other enterprises were subjected to a tax rate of between $0 and $3.87 per kg.
According to VASEP, the US was the largest tra fish importer of Vietnam in 2015 and 2016.
In the first six months of the year, price of Vietnamese tra fish exported to the US stood at $2.97-3.45 per kg.
