US's 3M Corporation opens science, technology, engineering center in Hanoi

The US’s 3M Corporation, the global leading group in science and innovation, opened a science, technology and engineering center in Hanoi on August 13.

Covering an area of 417 sq m, the center showcases the corporation’s advanced electronic technologies and solutions in Southeast Asia.

It also offers tours and interactive experiences, helping customers better understand how 3M Group's technologies are promoting and developing solutions for the future.

The center also features a lab with advanced testing equipment to meet the electronic market of Vietnam.

Previously, the corporation had launched a Customer Technical Centre (CTC) in Ho Chi Minh City, focusing on introducing solutions and business cooperation opportunities to partner businesses nationwide.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc said the opening of the center marks an important milestone in Vietnam’s path to become a global destination of high-technology, innovation and R&D projects.

Vietnam is at an important point in the transformation towards a digital economy, green economy, and circular economy, Ms. Ngoc said. 

She affirmed that Vietnam commits to create favorable environment for both domestic and foreign enterprises to conduct innovation.

Mr. Amit Laroya, Senior Vice President - Asia, 3M Transportation & Electronics Business Group, said that in the next two years, the corporation plans to invest in more advanced testing equipment to meet the needs of the rapidly growing Vietnamese market.

The year 2024 marks the 30th year of the corporation’s operation in Vietnam.
