Vietcombank, one of the four State-owned commercial banks that are allowed to sell SJC-branded gold bars to the public, has decided to only offer gold bars for customers who had registered online via the bank’s official website, starting from June 12.

The move is aimed at preventing people from lining up to buy gold, causing disorder, according to the bank.

Customers can register to buy the gold online via the bank’s website at https://www.vietcombank.com.vn/  between 9am to 4pm. They will then choose one of gold selling locations of the bank and time to visit the location to pay and collect the gold between 1-4pm.

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has sold SJC-branded gold bars on the market through the four banks, namely Agribank, BIDV, Vietcombank and Vietinbank, and the Saigon Jewelry and Germ Stone Co. (SJC) since June 3.

The four commercial banks sell gold bars to individual buyers only, while the SJC can sell and buy.
