Customs leaders in Vietnam and other ASEAN member countries discussed measures to promote trade facilitation and anti-smuggling at the 32nd meeting of the ASEAN Directors-General of Customs in Thailand on June 6-8.
In order to facilitate trade, Vietnam’s customs sector has boosted the application of information technology and digital transformation to improve the implementation of customs clearance procedures.
The sector targets having all key international seaports and border gates implement automated product supervision and management systems.
Participants also discussed measures to support reform and modernize the customs sector, develop human resources, and narrow the development gap between countries.
After this meeting, Vietnam Customs will assume the Chairmanship of the 33rd meeting of the ASEAN Directors-General of Customs in 2024 in Vietnam.
