Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Brazilian President Lula da Silva have agreed to continue to foster cooperation in various fields, including economy and trade, agriculture, and science and technology, the Government News has reported.
Focus will also be placed on education, culture, sports, tourism, climate change, green growth, digital transformation, energy transition, and innovation.
At talks on September 25 (local time) during the Prime Minister’s official visit to Brazil, the two leaders also agreed to promote the commencement of negotiations over a trade deal between Vietnam and the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), which will help boost cooperation in trade, economy, and investment once taking effect.
They agreed to promote discussions to quickly reach an agreement on Brazil’s recognition of Vietnam’s market economy status and an agreement on double taxation avoidance.
The two sides will also work to boost two-way trade turnover to $10 billion by 2025 and $15 billion by 2030.
Prime Minister Chinh proposed that Brazil increase its imports of Vietnamese products to balance trade between the two countries.
After their talks, the two leaders witnessed a signing ceremony for several cooperative documents on diplomacy, defense, education, and agriculture between the two countries.
