The Vietnam International Financial Centre in Da Nang (VIFC-DN) has officially been included in the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI) for the first time, according to a report by the Government News.
According to the latest rankings, VIFC-DN ranks 71st out of 117 ranked financial centers worldwide, selected from a total pool of 139 evaluated centers. In the same ranking edition, the Vietnam International Financial Centre in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFC-HCMC) ranked 67th.
The GFCI is a widely respected benchmark evaluating the competitiveness of financial centers globally. Published semiannually by Z/Yen Partners (London) and the China Development Institute (Shenzhen), the index assesses five core foundational areas: business environment, human capital, infrastructure, financial sector development, and general/reputational factors.
The simultaneous inclusion of two Vietnamese financial hubs on the global financial map marks a noteworthy milestone in Vietnam’s push to build international financial centers. For Da Nang, ranking 71st out of 117 is not an end destination, but rather an initial milestone demonstrating that VIFC-DN’s preparatory work and early initiatives are gaining recognition from the international financial community.
Permanent Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of VIFC-DN, Mr. Dang Dinh Duc, stated that VIFC-DN is positioned as a next-generation international financial center. Its core focus spans financial technology (Fintech), green finance, trade finance, regulatory sandboxes for new financial models, specialized trading and exchange platforms, and tailored financial products such as investment funds and asset management. VIFC-DN aims to attract global capital into strategic sectors including infrastructure, energy, technology, the green economy, trade, and tourism.
According to Mr. Duc, Da Nang has already allocated cleared land parcels to build infrastructure for the international financial center, a free trade zone, and an open economic zone. The city is progressively fostering a supportive working, living, and internationally connected environment for experts, investors, and enterprises.
"The city does not aim to build a financial center merely to put its name on the map. The goal is to establish a substantive hub capable of bridging global capital with investment opportunities in Vietnam, creating new channels to mobilize capital for development, and gradually integrating deeper into regional and global financial networks. VIFC-DN’s maiden inclusion in GFCI 40 serves as a pivotal milestone on our development journey, providing momentum to advance faster and more solidly in subsequent steps," Mr. Duc said.
