Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his visiting Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte agreed to promote bilateral cooperation in technology, micro-chip production, semiconductors, and digital transformation during talks in Hanoi on November 2.
They emphasized that science and technology and innovation are breakthrough sectors and agreed to expand cooperation to fields of potential such as the exploration and exploitation of key minerals as well as customs, maritime issues, and logistics.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to study the establishment of new mechanisms to deepen the cooperation between the two countries.
They affirmed that economics and trade are important pillars in bilateral relations, and agreed to continue to effectively and fully implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EUVFTA).
Prime Minister Rutte affirmed that Vietnam is a prioritized and important partner of the Netherlands in the Indo-Pacific region.
He noted that Dutch businesses are interested in Vietnam due to its stable politics and favorable business and investment environment.
He agreed to accelerate the approval of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EUVIPA) and spoke highly of Vietnam’s efforts in sustainably developing a fishing sector.
Prime Minister Chinh proposed that the Netherlands and G7 countries support Vietnam in technology, finance, and human resources in order to effectively implement the Just Energy Transition Partnership, set up a three-sided cooperative mechanism in agriculture, and contribute to dealing with global food security issues.
