A ceremony was held on April 23 to launch the cross-border QR payment service between Vietnam and the RoK.

A cross-border QR payment service between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) was launched on April 23, aiming to promote cross-border digital payments and tourism between the two countries.

The launch took place on the occasion of South Korean President Lee Jae Myung's State visit to Vietnam from April 21 - 24.

This service, however, resulted from the cooperation agreement signed at the Vietnam – South Korea Economic Forum, which was held in Seoul in August 2025 as part of  the State visit to South Korea by Vietnam's Party General Secretary To Lam.

Through the new service, Korean visitors and residents in Vietnam can use mobile banking apps and e-wallets within the GLN International network to scan VIETQRGlobal codes and make payments at hundreds of thousands of merchant locations across the country.

Transactions are processed in real time, matching the speed and security of domestic payments in Korea.

Notably, the service enables direct settlement between the Korean won (KRW) and the Vietnamese dong (VND) through the clearing infrastructure of Hana Bank and BIDV.
