Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha met with Keith Svendsen, CEO of APM Terminals on 18 March, to discuss potential investments in Vietnam's seaport development.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Vietnam's strategic location on key trade routes but noted the challenge of balancing port expansion with efficiency and aligning with green development goals.

He welcomed APM Terminals' focus on green fleets and sustainable port operation, noting that this aligns with Vietnam's own energy transition strategy. As part of this transition, Vietnam is open to pilot projects with APM Terminals to develop green seaports powered by renewable energy sources.

Svendsen acknowledged Vietnam's improving business environment and its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. APM Terminals, a subsidiary of global shipping giant Maersk, is seeking opportunities to build Vietnam's largest, most modern deep-water container ports, emphasizing digitalization and sustainability. He expressed hope for the Vietnamese government's continued support.
