Vietnam sent 155,000 workers overseas under contracts in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 8.55 per cent, according to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.
The figure is equivalent to 129 per cent of the annual target.
There are now around 650,000 Vietnamese workers employed in 40 countries and territories around the world.
More than 500 businesses have been licensed to send workers abroad.
At a conference on December 27 to discuss measures to improve the efficiency of labor exports, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan said sending Vietnamese workers abroad helps generate jobs and income for workers while increasing foreign currency for the country.
It also contributes to promoting multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and the host countries.
