The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has proposed amending the law on supporting small and medium enterprises to expand the beneficiaries of grants and loans from the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Fund (SMEDF), to ensure equality among businesses while still ensuring the principle of priority and focused support.

The Ministry of Construction has proposed that all construction in “red zones” (areas at high risk from Covid-19) be suspended, except for projects assisting pandemic prevention and control.

The Petroleum Law was passed by the National Assembly in 1993 and underwent two revisions in 2000 and 2008. Given the comprehensive changes seen in the oil and gas industry, many provisions in the law have become obsolete and are no longer attractive to investors, and some regulations create obstacles.

A dispatch signed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 23 states that while the pandemic is declining in 13 of the more than 23 localities implementing social distancing measures, outbreaks may nonetheless occur anytime. It is therefore necessary to mobilize the entire political system and especially the response of the people to reduce fatalities and ensure safe production.

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs’ Employment Service Centers in Vietnam and ManpowerGroup Vietnam have forecast that recruitment demand will increase significantly in the fields of information technology, electronics, energy, high technology, healthcare, and others during the second half of 2021. Demand for human resources with digital skills is also increasing at a record pace.

Aircraft maker Boeing will open an office in Hanoi, adding that it will continue to invest in and support Vietnam’s aviation industry despite Covid-19 seriously affecting the country.
