Vietnam welcomed nearly 6.6 million international visitors in the first seven months of the year, a 592.8 per cent increase year-on-year, figures from the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism show.
The country also catered to 76.5 million domestic tourists in the period.
Total revenue from tourism was estimated at VND416.6 trillion ($17.5 billion).
Over 1 million foreign visitors came to Vietnam in July alone; the first month of the year numbers have exceeded 1 million.
South Korea remained the largest source market during the seven-month period, with nearly 1.9 million visitors, accounting for one-third of the total, followed by China with 738,000 and the US with 445,000.
Many localities recorded positive growth in tourism in the seven-month period.
Ho Chi Minh City welcomed over 2.3 million foreign visitors, up 208.3 per cent year-on-year. Total tourism revenue was estimated at nearly VND93.6 trillion ($3.94 billion), a year-on-year rise of 55 per cent.
Hanoi welcomed 2.43 million international visitors, a 5.7-fold increase against the same period last year. Tourism turnover stood at $53.7 trillion ($2.25 billion), up 68.3 per cent year-on-year.
