The Vietnamese Week in Thailand 2023 is now taking place at Central World, one of the world’s largest shopping complexes, in Bangkok, Thailand, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) has reported.

With the theme “The Magical Taste of Vietnam”, this year’s event has attracted the participation of nearly 100 enterprises seeking trade cooperation opportunities and showcasing and promoting culture, tourism, and specialty products from Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta region.

Addressing the opening ceremony on August 16, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce of Thailand Jurin Laksanawisit said the holding of the Vietnamese Week in Thailand 2023 offers a good opportunity to strengthen trade, investment, and tourism ties between the two countries.

“Thailand is currently Vietnam’s largest trading partner within ASEAN, while Vietnam is Thailand’s fifth most important trading partner and the second-largest within the bloc,” Mr. Laksanawisit said.

“With bilateral trade target set at least $25 billion in 2025, two-way trade already reached over $21.19 billion in 2022, marking a 15.1 per cent surge compared to 2021,” he added.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said that, in recent years, the Vietnamese Government has provided many incentives for domestic companies to promote direct exports to distribution networks in different countries, including Thailand.

“The Vietnamese Week in Thailand 2023 is one of the most significant trade promotion activities introducing Vietnamese goods in Thailand,” he said.

Of note, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam has cooperated with Central Retail Vietnam to organize a business-matching conference during the week.

Running until August 20, the week expects to welcome 500,000 visitors.
