Vietnam’s consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.47% in August from the previous month, 3.57% from December 2025 and 4.89% year-on-year, according to a socio-economic data released by the National Statistics Office on September 3.

Of the 11 major groups of consumer goods and services, 10 recorded price increases, while only one group saw prices decline.

Transport posted the sharpest increase in August, rising 4.09% and contributing 0.41 percentage points to the overall CPI increase. The rise was mainly driven by higher fuel prices, with diesel prices increasing 22.15% and petrol prices rising 9.53% following several price adjustments during the month.

Food and catering services was the only category to record a decline, falling 0.03% and lowering the overall CPI by 0.01 percentage point.
