Vietnam’s GDP grew an estimated 9.95% year on year in the third quarter of 2026, accelerating from growth of 8.15% in the first quarter and 8.81% in the second quarter, according to an announcement released by the National Statistics Office on October 3.
The strong third-quarter performance lifted GDP growth for the first nine months of 2026 to 9.01%, bringing the economy closer to its full-year target of double-digit growth.
The industrial and construction sector was the main contributor, expanding 11.21% in the January-September period and accounting for 49.62% of the increase in total gross value added. The services sector grew 8.69%, contributing 45.03%, while agriculture, forestry and fisheries expanded 4.02%, contributing 5.35%.
Growth was also recorded across local economies. Of Vietnam’s total 34 provinces and centrally governed cities, 12 posted GRDP growth of at least 10% during the first nine months of the year.
