Vietnam exported more than 7 million tons of rice this year, as of October 15,  worth $3.59 billion, the Vietnam News Agency  quoted data from the Vietnam Food Association (VFA) as reporting.

The figures represent a year-on-year decline of 4.4% in volume and 21.9% in value.

Last week, 5% broken jasmine rice was offered at $420–435 per ton, near a two-month low. A trader in Ho Chi Minh City said domestic trading remained subdued as many exporters slowed paddy purchases from farmers due to weak overseas demand.

On production, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that by October 20, Mekong Delta provinces had sown nearly 1.24 million hectares of the 2025 summer-autumn crop and completed harvesting, with an average yield of 6.06 tons per hectare, equivalent to an estimated 7.51 million tons of paddy.

For the autumn-winter crop, 763,000 hectares had been planted, equivalent to 102.8% of the plan, with 263,000 hectares harvested at an average yield of 5.68 tons per hectare.
