Vietnam’s ST25 rice has once again been named the world’s best rice, sharing the top honour with Cambodia’s Phka Romdoul at the World’s Best Rice Award 2025 held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, the Vietnam News Agency has reported.

The 2025 award ceremony took place within the framework of the 7th World Rice Conference, organised by The Rice Trader from November 7–9 in Phnom Penh.

Lun Yeng, Secretary General of the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF), announced the results on November 9, confirming that both Cambodia’s Phka Romdoul—marketed under the brand Malis Angkor—and Vietnam’s ST25 rice secured first place, outperforming more than 30 competing varieties from around the world.

This is the third time Vietnam’s Ong Cua ST25, created by Hero of Labour Ho Quang Cua, has claimed the prestigious title, following previous wins in 2019 and 2023.
