Vietnam’s tuna exports in 2024 reached $989 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 17%, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
In last December alone, tuna export value was estimated at nearly $86 million, up 17% year-on-year.
Tuna remains one of the top three groups of seafood products of Vietnam in terms of export value, following shrimp and tra fish, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
In the five-year period from 2019 to 2023, tuna export rose from $719 million to $845 million, equivalent to an annual growth of 3%.
Vietnamese tuna products have been exported to over 100 markets worldwide. The four largest markets include the US, the EU, Middle East and member countries of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
