VinaCapital Ventures, a $100-million Vietnam-focused venture capital platform seeded by the VinaCapital Group, announced on February 2 a $1-million investment in Koina - a data-driven farm-to-business agricultural technology (agritech) platform established in Vietnam. This investment is part of Koina’s seed round.

Koina’s vision is to build the largest and most efficient agricultural ecosystem in Vietnam by accompanying and acting as a direct link between farmers and financial institutions, suppliers, and retailers.

Its Farmer Platform also aims to help farmers obtain loans, provides transparent and reasonable pricing, and guides farmers on best agricultural practices, from planting to delivering fresh fruit and vegetables from farms to retailers with quality and competitive prices.

Speaking at the investment agreement signing ceremony, Mr. Trung Hoang, Director of VinaCapital Ventures, emphasized that agriculture is the backbone of Vietnam’s economy. In the context of the Vietnamese Government’s policy to promote green agriculture and sustainable development, the Koina platform is expected to become an innovation center for the agricultural industry. VinaCapital Ventures hopes to join hands not only to improve the supply chain but also the lives of Vietnamese farmers.

Mr. Thi Nguyen, Co-Founder and Chairman of Koina, said the new investment will help the company expand its sales channels, thereby increasing output for farmers. Koina will also increase its investment in technology to control quality and add value to Vietnamese agricultural products.
