Vingroup proposes to build sea-crossing bridge connecting Can Gio and Ba Ria-Vung Tau

Vingroup has sought approval from the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to study and develop a sea-crossing bridge connecting the southern city's coastal commune of Can Gio with its Ba Ria-Vung Tau area under a build–transfer (BT) model.

The group said the proposed bridge would help shorten travel times between coastal areas, enhance economic and logistics connectivity, and promote sustainable urban expansion in the newly expanded Ho Chi Minh City, which now includes the former provinces of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Binh Duong.

Earlier, in March 2025, the city’s Department of Public Works (now the Department of Construction) carried out preliminary studies on potential investment options for a southern coastal road within the city. One of the proposed options was a main route connecting the city’s southern coastal area with Ba Ria-Vung Tau through a sea-crossing bridge from Can Gio.
