Total electricity generation and imports in the first ten months of this year reached 258.7 billion kWh, a 10.6% increase compared to the same period last year, according to Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).
In October alone, electricity output reached 25.96 billion kWh, a year-on-year growth of 7%.
As a result, the electricty supply was ensured for socio-economic development demand and people's daily use, the EVN reported.
Of the ten-month total, 125.99 billion kWh was generated from coal thermal power plants, accounting for 48.7%, 76.31 billion kWh from hydro power plants, or 29.5%, and 32.88 billion kWh from renewable energy, or 12.7%.
During the period, EVN and relevant units began construction of 76 power projects and put 102 others into operation.
