Fifteen renewable energy projects that completed trial runs for commercial operations had begun generating electricity for the national grid as of July 21, with a total capacity of 734.92 MW, according to Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).
They generate an average of 3.2 million kWh per day and have generated 154 million kWh since their commercial operation date (COD), the Government News reported.
The 15 are among 85 renewable energy projects that must negotiate electricity prices with EVN under the new price bracket issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) at the beginning of the year. The new price bracket was introduced for generating companies that had missed the original preferential feed-in-tariff (FiT) deadline.
Seventy-two other renewable projects with a total capacity of more than 3,931 MW have also submitted applications for price negotiations. Sixty proposed a price equivalent to 50 per cent of the ceiling set by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
EVN and investors have completed price negotiations and signed contracts to purchase power from 58 projects.
The ministry has approved temporary prices for the 58 projects, which have a total capacity of more than 3,181 MW.
