An investment capital estimated at over VND78 trillion ($2.97 billion) is required to develop the seaport system of northern Hai Phong port city by 2030, according to a detailed development plan for the city’s port land and water areas for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
The plan has got approval from the Ministry of Construction.
The plan sets a cargo throughput target of 175.4 million to 215.5 million tons per year by 2030, including container cargo ranging from 12.15 million to 14.92 million TEUs.
Additionally, passenger traffic is projected to reach 20,400 – 22,800 people annually.
The city’s seaports are expected to have 61- 73 wharves, comprising 98 - 111 berths, with a total length of 20,196 - 23,446 m (excluding additional port facilities). The total land use demand for this period is approximately 1,638 ha, while water surface is estimated at 116,536 ha.
