Vietnam had imported more than $5 billion worth of automotive components this year as of November 15.
The latest figures from General Department of Vietnam Customs show that the country spent $258 million on importing automotive components in the first half of November, bringing the annual figure to $5.068 billion, a year-on-year increase of 19.3 per cent.
Imports of components are far higher than automobiles, with Vietnam spending $3.24 billion on importing 144,726 automobiles from Thailand, China, India, Japan, and elsewhere in the period.
It imported more than $4 billion worth of automotive components last year, an increase of over 22 per cent compared to 2020.
