Vietnam exported 644,000 tons of cashew nuts in 2023, earning $3.6 billion, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
The figure represents a year-on-year rise of 24 per cent in volume and 18 per cent in value.
The average export price was estimated at $5,677 per ton, down 5 per cent compared to 2022.
Exports to major markets such as the US, South Korea, and the Netherlands posted high growth. Those to the US earned $855 million, up 5 per cent against 2022 and accounting for nearly 25 per cent of the country’s total cashew nut exports.
Vietnam has retained its position as the world’s largest cashew processor for the past 17 years, accounting for over 80 per cent of processed cashew nuts globally, according to the Vietnam Cashew Association.
