2024 agro-forestry and fishery production saw positive growth

Agro-forestry and fishery production gained positive results in 2024, meeting both domestic and export demand, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Seafood production was estimated at over 9.54 million tons, a year-on-year rise of 2.5%. Of which, the country harvested more than 5.72 million tons of aquatic products from aquaculture, up 4% year-on-year, while exploited seafood output was estimated at over 3.82 million tons, surging 0.3% year-on-year.

Last year, the whole country planted 7.13 million ha of rice paddy, up 12,000 ha compared to the previous year, with a total output of 47.87 million tons.

Regarding forestry,  additional 301,300 ha of forest has been planted nationwide, a year-on-year growth of 21.7%. Wood exploitation output reached over 23.3 million cu m, up 7.9% year-on-year.
