The Ministry of Transport (MoT) will prioritize allocating over VND5 trillion ($208 million) to invest in seven transport projects in Mekong Delta’s Can Tho city in the 2021-2025 period.
Projects include construction of the Can Tho - Hau Giang section of the North-South Expressway, with total investment of VND3.477 trillion ($144.8 million), and the construction of the Lo Te - Rach Soi route costing VND366 billion ($15.25 million).
Meanwhile, some VND326 billion ($13.58 million) will be invested in dredging the navigational channel under some bridges.
MoT said it will also prioritize investment capital to implement a project building a traffic link connecting National Highway No. 91 and the Long Xuyen bypass through the Mekong Delta’s An Giang province and Can Tho city. Construction is estimated to cost over VND2.1 trillion ($87 million).
The ministry has recently consulted with the government on submitting to the National Assembly for approval an investment policy to build the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway at a total length of 188.2 km. The section passing through Can Tho city is 37.7 km long. It requires estimated investment of over VND44.69 trillion ($1.86 billion).
