Vietnam recorded total export and import revenue of $210.79 billion in the first four months of the year, down 13.6 per cent against the same period last year, figures from the General Statistics Office (GSO) reveal.
Exports totaled $108.57 billion, a year-on-year fall of 11.8 per cent.
There were 20 types of products posting export revenue in excess of $1 billion and accounting for 83.8 per cent of the country’s total export turnover. Five posted turnover of $5 billion or more, or 57.4 per cent of the total.
Import revenue reached $102.22 billion in the four-month period, down 15.4 per cent against the same period last year.
This resulted in the country posting a trade surplus of $6.35 billion for the period.
The US remained Vietnam’s largest export market, with total turnover of $28.4 billion, while China was its largest import source, with $33.3 billion in value.
