A new 40 MW wind farm in Quang Tri province is set to go online in August, marking a key step in Vietnam's central region's renewable energy goals.
The Hai Anh Wind Farm, a project valued at VND1.5 trillion (approx. $57.4 million), is currently in its final testing stages.
The project is located across the communes of Huong Phung and Lao Bao in the central province, which has been merged from the former provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri.
The project, which broke ground in 2023, navigated significant hurdles during its development. Construction faced disruptions from the aftermaths of the COVID-19 pandemic, harsh weather conditions, and prolonged delays in land clearance procedures.
According to a report from the investor, major technical components of the the project are now substantially complete. A key milestone has been the successful installation of all eight 5.0 MW wind turbines, bringing the project to its full planned capacity.
The investor has scheduled an official inauguration ceremony for August 19, 2025, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution Victory (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2025).
The completion and commissioning of the Hai Anh Wind Farm will make a significant contribution to realizing Quang Tri's renewable energy development strategy. It also reinforces the province's pivotal role in the national energy transition roadmap, aiming for sustainable development and enhanced climate change adaptation.
