The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has proposed the Ministry of Transport to appraise the feasibility study for its project building a second passenger terminal (T2) and expand the aircraft apron at Dong Hoi Airport in central Quang Binh province.
Total investment capital is estimated at over VND1.75 trillion ($68.7 million). It will be mobilized from the development investment fund of the ACV.
Covering over 17,500 sq m, the T2 terminal is designed to serve 3 million passengers per year and is capable of expanding to increase the capacity to 5 million passengers after 2030 if needed.
Construction of the T2 terminal is scheduled to start in the third quarter of this year, with completion set for the first quarter of 2026.
The expansion of the aircraft apron is expected to take 17 months, with construction coinciding with the schedule for the T2 terminal.
The existing terminal of Dong Hoi airport is capable of serving 500,000 passengers per year. However, it is currently overloaded. Last year, the airport served more than 750,000 passengers.
